L'amour de ma vie!

There is one true love of my life. In my world of voyage, that is. That is the love that I share with my favourite city in South Africa, CAPE TOWN!

The 021 (Area code), The Tizzle... As in Cape Tizzle. Cape Teezy. The Mother City!

I first went to Cape Town on a road trip in 1994 (I think). I went with my nursery school friend Katie Cohen (I wonder where she is) and her parents. IT WAS EPIC INDEED! We went straight to Fish Hoek, where the waters are warm and the sun shines bright :)

I have been travelling to and fro this city for the past eighteen years of my life and every time I am in the Cape, I experience something new. It is a refreshing peace of mind to be so close to the ocean. One would think that the cold, Atlantic would scare one away, but not me... I have braved the storms many a time and it was always enthralling to say the least. When I consider how many times I have travelled to Cape Town, it makes me think that I could have saved all that money and bought myself that McLaren SLR that I so long for...

Well I make sure to go to the Mother of all cities at least twice a year. There was a point when I lived there and before that, I would travel there every season.

My most recent trip was amazing to say the least and I would like to share some imagery of my walk in the forest with my Wife, Zhao Yang (Her name is actually Yang Zhao - @yangisung, but in China, we are addressed by our last names, first) and a friend and EPIC photographer, Max Mogale (@maxmogale).

My eyes saw something new and my heart was completely at peace. The joy I experienced in the woods was beyond most I have, ever before.

I am constantly inspired from various forms of imagery by which I am presented with, daily.
I have always enjoyed the art of photography and it comes as no surprise, that I have befriended two amazing photographers. Namely, Stephanie O'Connor of Conner Varin Photography and Linda Gieskes of Mad.Moi?Selle.
these two women are a constant inspiration to me and I am certain that the images that they produce, when we go to space, will reflect the beauty that is seen in the one above!

Dinner FOR-FOUR

Last night, three of my faves were over at my house for dinner. After a much anticipated surprise, Muse, Thabangalang, Masingi and I enjoyed a late dinner indoors a mi casa!

I made some chicken, potatoes and a mixed veggie gravy!

Before you start, Pre-heat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

I started off by:

Boiling the chicken in some white wine and water.

Slowly, I added some chicken spice, medium curry powder, whole bay leaves and origanum to my pan.

I allowed the mixture to boil at a lower heat for about 12 minutes.

Don't forget to turn your chicken continuously throughout this process, to allow for the absorption of all the juices and flavours combined.

I then wedged some potatoes and placed them in a baking dish. I squeezed four lemons over the potatoes and added to my dish, 1/4 cup of milk and two tablespoons of huile d'olive (Olive Oil)

I sprinkled these with some mixed herbs and freshly ground black pepper and placed them in the oven to bake for approx.17 minutes.

Continue to check on the potatoes and turn as often as necessary.

To make the vegetable gravy:

I started by placing my onions (Julienne), peppers (Julienne), mushrooms (Sliced) and carrots ( 2 x grated) in a pot and added some garlic, butter and 1 cup of water to allow for a stewed-broth to boil for 10 minutes.

As you will notice, your water will at some point evaporate. Make sure to stew your vegetables, in a closed pot for the first ten minutes.

To add flavour, I seasoned these vegetables with some mixed masala spice, cumin, mixed herbs and half a teaspoon of salt.

I added 2 tablespoons of ketchup to the pot and an additional cup of water.

Allow for you mixture to simmer at a low heat and watch your gravy thicken before your eyes.

This mixture is already thick. To thin it out slightly (for that saucy feel) continue to add cups of water, until you are satisfied with your gravy.

I placed some wedged tomato slices in a baking dish and sprinkled with three tablespoons of brown sugar (Apparently, sugar brings out the bursting flavours of the tomato). I finished it off with three table spoons of balsamic vinegar and placed them in the oven to roast for 15 minutes.

Once the tomatoes are done, you should mix them into your vegetable gravy and stir thoroughly.

I added some crumbed feta to my gravy :)

Once you are satisfied with your potatoes, mix in your chicken and place in the oven to roast. Keep an eye on your dish and let it roast until golden brown.

I forgot to take a proper image of the meal fresh from the kitchen last night, but here is an after shot that I brought to work for lunch today!

Bom Proveito amigas!

Beijhos!

THE GODS MUST BE KRAY!

Read this reflection of my earlier thoughts! At least the Cosmic Gods ;) are in sync with my thoughts :)

April 3, 2012:

Capricorn Daily Horoscope: Exploring The Whole You!

You may find that you are intrigued by unconventional ideas today and attracted to people who are not afraid to share their avant-garde ideas. Making the most of your controversial outlook can be as easy as taking the time to make a thorough exploration of your eccentric side. If you feel unsure as to whether your notions have validity or will be rejected by others, you can alleviate your concerns by reminding yourself that the composition of your inner values needn’t be governed by outer world values. This can be the perfect time to expose yourself to concepts you might otherwise deem outlandish or too contentious. You may discover that in examining these ideas and the eccentricities within today, you become increasingly open-minded and enthusiastic about expressing your oddities.

In freely expressing our less conventional traits and habits, we allow others to see us as we really are, moving through life in accordance with our individual value systems. Many people, fearing criticism or disdain, choose to conform to societal or cultural norms in order to avoid drawing attention to themselves. However, our eccentricities represent an important part of who we are and what makes us unique. To deny them is to reject ourselves. When we accept the more unusual aspects of our personalities and proudly display them to the world, we feel whole and undivided. We needn’t ever feel ashamed or compelled to bow to convention to gain acceptance from our peers. As you explore your unconventional side today, you’ll discover that people accept you for you.
MY PURPOSE!

I took some time last night to meditate into my centre. I sat, in my candle-lit room and meditated for fifty-five minutes. The setting was trop (too) romantic, it looked like someone was about to make love in a few minutes. Ha!

I took this time to listen to myself (VERY IMPORTANT TASK). I listened to my thoughts, thoroughly. I listened to my breathing pattern and made sure that it was consistent. I listened to my soul, which made me realise my purpose in this UNIVERSE. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I PRAYED. I prayed to God, Allah, the Gods of Love, The Gods of the Sun and the Moon; and all the many higher beings that control the beautiful elements of our worlds. I know that I am 'young', but I pride myself in the articulation of self and in the precision and definition of individual purpose.

My purpose, as I have always known it to be, is more clear to me now. This time taken, helped me to ascertain my goal and mission in life.

SIMPLY PUT, MY PURPOSE IS:

To feed the HUMAN MIND, through WRITTEN STIMULATION, the BODY, through CULINARY ARTISTRY and the SOUL, through SPIRITUAL ENLIGHTENMENT. MY PURPOSE IS TO LOVE!

I am on a mission to reconnect our souls and souls encountered. As we stand, we stand as the dividends of society. We struggle to find the core of our happiness and the fulfilment of our lives. We always find ourselves questioning our need for more. MORE WHAT?

I believe that with the focus of all of my energies and abilities; the mental strength to exercise and the balance of MY stillness and time, I too shall be completely freed from the constraints of the human race.

Have you discovered your purpose?

Kinshasa 101

YAY! WE ATE SOME FOOD FROM THE CONGO BONGO!

My friend and sister, Lorraine Veringa, Christelle's sister, (Christelle Veringa is the lady who makes the delish dressing from one of our Raw Food salads), is one of the most beautiful, intelligent women on this planet earth. Not only is Lorraine an amazing spirit, but she too is one of my main inspirations when it comes to cooking delicious food. When Lori cooks, it is one of those meals; that even has the third round being is eaten in silence! (EVERYTIME). She is a feeder and she loves it :)

I was craving some food from her hood, (KINSHASA,CONGO), so she offered to cook us an amazing feast to enjoy!

DISH:
Fumbwa, Pondu, Chikwange (A starch), Poulet a l'arachide (Peanut Butter Chicken), Tilapia

My Inspiration

LIFE IS A BEAUTIFUL TREAT!

One minute you meet a man, at a bar and the next minute he has become one of the greatest sources of inspiration that one could ask for. I found this in my dear friend, Orrin Klopper (CEO of NETSURIT). Orrin is one of the most amazing people in the Universe.

His charismatic charm and willing ability to create happiness for others is one of the things which I have grown to love about him most. It doesn't hurt that he's good looking too (I love having good-looking friends...) I have never thought of befriending a KES boy, because they are slightly alternative to the other boys that we were conditioned to interact with, but through the grace of all the Gods out there, the energies of the Universe brought us together and I could not wish for anything less than what I have grown to learn about this amazing spirit.

Orrin not only touches my life, but he brings out the spark in everyone that he interacts with and this is ME TELLING YOU FROM FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE.

He is a true gem and his story is definitely one for the books.

Thanks Orri.. You are the BOMB-DIG!

IMAGINE GETTING MARRIED HERE!

As a child, I always loved learning about the planets AND the stars AND the sun AND the moon... Basically, I am a child of the Universe. It has always been a secret dream of mine to go to space (not so secret anymore). I plan to do so before I turn 30... COS IT'S DOWNHILL FROM THERE... Ha ha ha... Just kidding! I will not place any time-constraints (we hate these) on my vacation to our outer worlds, but the day I go, TRUST ME, I'll let you know.

Bisous toujours,
