NAMASTE!

Dr. Melissa is the best :) Yoga at home, in the comfort of your bedroom is not only great for its sense of privacy, but it feels a little bit more personal too. Try it out, it will change your life.

I usually create a Yoga den for myself, by: dimming the lights and lighting one candle and one stick of incense, to help set the mood. :)

All My Love,

TOO SICK!

I REALLY HOPE THAT THEY START TOURING SOON!

Here is the official Music Video for 'Doin' it Right'

If you recall, the other week, I wrote a piece on 'The Robots'. For those of you who are unaware, this is a French House band which is made of a duo of brilliance. Daft Punk have really nailed it this time. I know that some of my favourite songs from previous albums such as: Music Sounds Better with You, Something About Us, Primetime of Your Life and Emotion are untouchable.

THIS SONG, IS HOWEVER, RIGHT UP THERE WITH SOME OF MY FAVOURITES and this band is surely moving up to the top spot in my list of top five bands, which includes:

Coldplay, N.E.R.D., Red Hot Chilli Peppers and what used to be U2 :)

F*CKIN' AMAZING I TELL YOU!

Best,

FLASHBACKS!

Last December, I explored the streets of Cape Town, with one of my favourite people in the world, Kay Morgan (@DJ_Doowap). We stopped over at a friend's house, Raiko Spreadbury (@raikomyman), who lovingly invited us into his home for a little get together :)

Cheers, to one of the best days of my life.

Domestication is key! Eat right and you will be alright!

Garlic Bread on a Budget.

I spontaneously decided that it would be much more fun to make our garlic bread at home.
Store-bought garlic bread always seems to have too much butter and not enough garlic; leaving you with a thick, pasty substance on your palette.

I used:
100g of salted butter @ R5.00 (R25.00 for 500g)
2 cloves of finely chopped/crushed fresh garlic @R1.50/clove (R3.00)
Salt and Pepper to taste and
I added a handful of mixed herbs and oregano.

  • Lightly saute your garlic, herbs, salt and pepper in a sauce pan
  • Add your butter, making sure to cut it into smaller pieces; thus, increasing the rapidity at which it will melt
  • Allow for your butter to melt and stir it in consistently until it is smooth.
  • Once your butter has started to boil slightly, turn down the heat and allow for it to cool down and thicken.
  • I also bought a baguette (R5.00), which I sliced beautifully. I then laid these out on a baking tray and spread the melted butter, evenly on each piece.
  • I baked the bread for approximately 12 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius et voila.

Total cost = a whopping R13.00!

HOME-MADE GARLIC BREAD IS THE FUTURE :)

A mouthful of goodness!

There are few better feelings than the enjoyment of a home-cooked meal, surrounded by great souls.

SUCCESS!

A special thank you to all of those who managed to crawl out of bed on Saturday morning and join us in celebrating Keep Eating's first-ever, Sandwich Drive.

We are so grateful to have been able to give away 80 sandwiches; as well as, some textbooks to those who are less fortunate, in this life.

We were able to initiate wholesome conversations with our homeless community; in the hopes of rehabilitating them back into our society.

It is our mission to clean up the streets in the aims of building a better existence for us all.

We would like to send out a special shout-out to the two ladies seen in this image: Ous' Maki and Ous' Malebohang. Best production team, ever.
I would also like to thank my business partner and Soul-Sister, Blossom Mayer. Without you, life would not be a dream :)

Who are you?

FORGET ME NOT!

Forget Me not
Forget Me never
Forget Me now
Forget Me forever

For I have forgotten
What it is to love You
Forgetting you is easy
For my Heart knows the Truth

Forget I was there
I ever held on
For you forgot the bliss we shared
In forgetting You are Wrong

Forget I would have loved you
Forget I ever did
Forget you were Blessed to Touch Me
Forget you misunderstood

Forget my Kiss
Forget my Smile
Look through my Soul
You will see I and I

For you forgot about the Love
Transpired through my Soul
On the day that you remember
Your time, will be of mold

A distant memory, Insha'Allah you shall be
For you Tortured my Soul
In your perplexed complacency

The day that you forgot me
My Soul again felt bright
Of the worthiness of my Heart
Which has forbidden you from its Light

In my dreams
Your face has disappeared
I wake up in Ecstasy
Forgetting the time I feared

Forget Me Not
Forget Me Never
For you will always Remember
You should have Loved Me Forever.

Best,
Khaleesi x

YUMMY MUMMY FOOD!

Fresh Norwegian salmon served with some steamed greens, roasted baby potatoes and a home-made lemon butter sauce.

If you are ever venturing along Kloof Street, in Cape Town (South Africa), please do yourself a favour and pop into a restaurant called 'Manna'. I promise you, it will be worth your while.

I hope that all the fathers had the most amazing Father's Day yesterday. Fathers are hard to come by, good fathers are scarce and great fathers are a blessing.
Men have a different way of expressing themselves to the people that they love and one of the most difficult forms of this expression is evident in fatherhood. Many of us complain that we do not receive enough attention from our fathers, that our fathers are cold and their feelings are sometimes unwarranted; that our fathers do not understand us as our mothers do.

Sometimes, we forget to understand the pressure that comes with being a man in this world. To provide for your loved ones is a task that only few have accomplished and without such accomplishments, the others are seen as failures. We need to dedicate our time to appreciating our providers, more, for without them, we would not be able to reproduce. Women may be the bearers of human beings, but men are the providers that fertilise this conception.

TO ALL OF OUR CURRENT, FUTURE AND POTENTIAL FATHERS:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRESENCE ON THIS BEAUTIFUL PLANET EARTH. WE LOVE YOU, YOUR APPENDAGES AND THE STRENGTH AND PROTECTION THAT YOU GIVE TO US, DAILY.
EVEN WITHOUT MEN, WOMEN WOULD STILL RULE, BUT OUR REIGN WOULD BE A LITTLE LESS FULFILLING AND FAR LESS EXCITING!

Best,
Khaleesi x

Jan Delay Is The Business :)

It was late last year, when my best friend's partner dumped a large amount of music onto my hard-drive (which is now, sadly broken). Lucky for me, that I have foresight in life which allowed me to save all of the music on my computer. I am in love with Deutsch musique, it has a quality that is untouchable. This artist introduced the ideas of reggae and hip-hop to the German community and he is very well respected in his craft. This song makes me feel alive. It has a great tempo and its melody is so soothing to my soul.

Genießen! - Enjoy!

El Amor Es Un Acto De Fe.
- Love Is An Act of Faith.

What lies beneath my soul
Is transpired through my mind.
What encourages my heart to grow
Is transpired through my eyes.
What conveys: the meaning of being alive
Is transpired through my dreams.
What makes me who I am
Is transparent; in that I am free.

What gives to me, the idea: that my love shall prevail?
What takes away the hurt?
That, my faith shall unveil.
What purpose do I serve, in allowing another
To be mine forever, to be my only lover?
In love, we shall grow
In love, we shall be
My faith, I give unto you.
For only you can set my soul free.

I captured this image during my most recent stay at home, in Cape Town.

COME PLAY WITH US :)

I am not sure if you have heard of an organisation called: Keep Eating est. 2012?

I was reading up about them on their Facebook page and it is a community business which is centred around the education of people, with regards to the types of food that we allow ourselves to consume.

Keep Eating is about a choice in lifestyle. It is an organisation which has been founded by two Presidents who are passionate about their society and societies alike. These young ladies are in their early twenties and it is their dream to take this organisation across the globe, in the hopes of helping others to correct their minds and souls, through the art of indulging in a lifestyle of the complete consciousnessm of health and self-preservation.

A healthy mind is reliant on a healthy body and the initiative herewith is to educate consumers about their consumption of food and to reintroduce society to the traditions of healthy, hearty eating.

You can find them on:

Next week Saturday, the 22nd of June '13, "Keep Eating" will be hosting their first event. This is in aid of uplifting the homeless community of Johannesburg, through a Sandwich and Blanket drive. It will be held at The Rosebank Park, which is next door to the library on Keyes Avenue. Rosebank.
Guests of the event are invited to come and join the team from 11h00-14h00 and are requested to come with the option of a Sandwich, a blanket or both :)

I AM SO EXCITED TO ATTEND THIS EVENT!

I hope to see you there.

Best,
Khaleesi x

 NEVER FAIL TO TRY!

Last week, I was a very naughty girl and it felt so good.
I am always honest in my wrongdoings (no matter what the consequences may be). If I am at fault, what is the point in pretending that I am not? Today, I am giving thanks to my body for allowing me to indulge in way too much bread and cheese over the past six days. How many times can one eat a toasted cheese sandwich in a day? I am certain that I will definitely beat that record.

This past Saturday, a couple of mates and I grabbed some take-away pizzas at a hidden restaurant in Craighall Park, Johannesburg, called: Modo Mio. The pizzas are to die for! We ordered two large pizzas and the three of us scoffed them down as if God said: 'Okay gals, this is your last meal ever'. We complained of our over-indulgence, but like I said... It felt so good!

When I arrived home, about thirty minutes later, my stomach coerced my mind into directing its energy towards my motor system; hence, propelling me to prepare myself, not one, but two PIZZA SANDWICHES. For those of you who do not know this, a pizza sandwich is bread on cheese... I mean cheese on bread (... I feel dizzy just thinking about it...), which has been baked in the oven.

Alas, my body has told me that it is time to balance out my insane intake of bread and cheese last week. To add insult to injury, I have not run in six days, so I am going to have to put in the extra work this week, otherwise I will fall off until the Summertime. It is difficult to motivate yourself to exercise in Winter; yet, we all want our winter bodies to replicate our summer bodies.

This week, I am going to be concentrating on a semi-raw cleanse, which will allow for the regulation of my digestive system to rule once again.

I prepared a light lunch snack which consisted of Provita bites. These were: Provita crackers, topped with:
1. Hummus, Tomato, onion and mushroom salsa and Avocado.
2. Hummus, Tomato, onion and mushroom salsa and scrambled egg-whites. I finished off these delectable treats by topping them with some finely torn spinach

As soon as I took the first bite, my body instantaneously recognised that I AM BACK IN ACTION.

Correct your bodies, where you have done them wrong. Indulge in raw eating, yoga practice and cardio exercise such as running. Sometimes, such concepts seem so foreign to me, because of the mental discipline behind their practise. With every new dawn, comes the freedom to keep on pushing myself to my ultimate form of being and the road has only just opened its way for me to fulfill my destiny. Elevate yourselves and never allow anyone to prevent you from reaching your ultimate sense of self-worth. Only you can make your dream life come true.

PEACE

MID-DAY MUNCHIES!

Provita Bites :)

MESSAGES OF MY PAST

I was looking through some old pieces of writing when I came across some words that I wrote when I was in my final year of high school, which was in fact, the other day, I am almost sitting on NINETEEN + ?...

I would like to share with you all, an excerpt from a piece that I wrote for my English teacher, Mrs Southey. She is a wonderful teacher, in that she allows for our writing to be completely free of any inhibitions. I now realise that I wrote intensely about love, love-making, relationships and many other topics that reflect passionately on the woman that I am today:

A woman of freedom, strength, happiness, peace and an abundance of love to give unto this world and its soulful inhabitants. This world that is in awe of its pain and suffering. This world that has a soul which we have yet to fully connect with. This world that I shall convey my dreams to. A world where dreams are fulfilled and inner-happiness is everlasting.

These are my words, aged 17. I knew love then and I know it now. It is within me, beyond me, forever it shall carry me:

"...In life, they say that true love is one soul's recognition of  self reflected in the recognition of anothers. They say that it is an explosive state of being, which extends the connectivity of a mutual relationship beyond the parallels of this universe. How does one discover or familiarise oneself with this state of being without giving up a sense of one's pride due to the many emotional factors of life which restrain us from the extensions of self-being. It is in my belief that we maintain our pride by merely surrounding ourselves with brick walls. These very walls allow us to put up a front to the rest of the world which makes them believe that we are surviving the harsh realities of life. In this way, we protect ourselves from self-dilapidation...'

Expressed in the piece: 'My Oxygen'

But sometimes, I still need you..."

I would like to thank all of my readers for your consistent support over the years. To discover oneself is to know what lies within one's heart and this is my journey. AMAZING SH*T!

I am so happy that I waited until this past Saturday night to listen to a little piece of the new Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories. Ordinarily, I am one of those fans who would sleep outside the CD Warehouse (A CD store in South Africa), waiting to listen to and buy any new album of one of my favourite musicians or bands

It was around February 2013, when I heard rumours that Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk secretly collaborated on some of the artistry of this album. At first I was in disbelief, because I thought to myself...

'What are the chances that two of my all-time favourite artists would produce music together?'

Alas, the rumours came true and the next thing I noticed is that time lines and status updates appeared filled with news about the above-mentioned legends.

What is it about catching onto a trend? I have never seen so much hype around Daft Punk... Then again, we were not previously attached to social networking, which allowed for our expressive beings to be more internally bound. The level of our intimacy of appreciation has actually decreased, in my opinion, due to our consistent and obsessive use of social media, nowadays.

I feet slightly perturbed though, at the amount of hype that surrounded the release of this album. I know and I understand why such a hype would exist, but all of a Sunday, EVERYONE has become a Daft Punk fan. It is better to arrive late, than never at all, is what they teach us in life.

Never did I think that I would say "Pharrell is over-exposed", because I am his die-hard fan. I just feel that the way in which his new works have been released have allowed for so many of us to kill the records, by over-playing both his new single with Robin Thicke and T.I. 'Blurred Lines'; as well as his genius work with Daft Punk on their song, 'Get Lucky'. Unfortunately for new-age music lovers, some of the original fans have been overwhelmed by the constant repetition of these originally beautiful songs, which, I feel, have now become seriously cheesy. I must admit though, that Fashion TV had a soulful remix of 'Get Lucky' that I believe to be MUCH BETTER than the original.

I find it difficult to view or listen to art that is surrounded by too much hype, because I am then somewhat coerced to agree with the most popular opinion of such art; without having a clarified idea of really taking in what the artist is offering me. I am so happy that I waited this long to listen to this album, because my appreciation for the songs therewith (all two of the ones that I have listened to) is even greater than I anticipated.

One of my friends says that I am 'anti-establishment' and this is the apparent cause of my lack of conformity to our societal mind-set. Ha ha! I am not anti anything, I am just living my life at my own pace and I would not choose to do so in any other way. I will continue to listen to this album and for the first time in a long time, I will venture out to the store and actually buy it.

YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME, IF YOU LOVE THIS WORK AS MUCH AS I DO!

Even though, I have minimal experience in that I have not yet completed my listening of this album, I KNOW THAT "Doin' It Right"  is definitely my favourite song off of Random Access Memories.

I am so proud to be a fan of the Robots. It has been +/-15 years and we are still going strong :)

Keep on Rockin' to the Rhythm :)

Best,
Khaleesi x

P.S. This is the epitome of what I deem to be: perfected art.
